Tejar is a town 30 min outside of Antigua Guatemala. Every day a few families wait patiently for the dump trucks to arrive. These families collect and sort through the trash looking for cardboard, bottles, and anything else that could be sold or traded for money. The children play a big role in this work; some are the sole collectors while others help and also attend school later in the day. The families are no longer allowed to live at the dump and many must pay an annual fee to dig through the trash.
